Young Chef

The young chef competition is one of our flagship annual projects.  Founded by the Club it is now a national level Rotary event!

In Aylesbury Young Chef has been made possible with the help of Hartwell House and Aylesbury College.  The competition is open to budding chefs at secondary school level in the Aylesbury Vale area. Students submit a three-course dinner menu for the first stage; the ingredients shouldn’t cost more than £10. Out of these contestants, six finalists are chosen to: prepare, cook and present their meals over 3 hours at Aylesbury College. While they do this, the head chef from Hartwell House and some lecturing staff from Aylesbury College observe them at work. They are joined by a local celebrity to judge their meals. After this, the winner moves on to the District heats and is coached by the Head Chef from Hartwell House. The prize is lunch for the winner and three of their family members at the Hotel.
